The Finance Department is seeking highly motivated candidates who possess a solid foundation in the full range of accounting support work and customer serviceto join our team. The current opening is for an Account Clerk I’ll in the Revenue and Collections Division which will begin primarity as a customer service representative providing stellar service to the City of Nape customers at the front counter.

This role will entail answering phones, responding to customer inquiries, processing payments and applications etc. Once trained at the front counter, the successful candidate may perform accounts payable, utility billing, accounts receivable, or benefits administration
support, performing routine to difficult work processing requests, billings and payments for services, business licenses and other municipal transactions. The most successful candidates will have proven skills and experience to include:

supporting a high volume accounting environment

basic accounting or bookkeeping procedures

excellent math skills

attention to detail and organization

proficiency with current computer software and its uses in an accounting office environment

confidentiality and the use of tact and discretion

interacting with the public and all levels of organizational staff, providing exceptional service to customers

The position may be appointed atthe I or II level depending upon qualifications and experience. The job classifications Account Clerk I and Account Clerk II are flexibly staffed positions that allow an employee to be initially appointed to one classification level (usually the entry level), and then be promoted to the next level (usually the journey level) without a competitive process. The position may be
appointed at any level depending upon qualifications and experience.

Account Clerk I (Salary: $46,387- $56,332 annually)

Account Clerk II (Salary: $50, 106-960,520 annually)

This recruitment and examination is being conducted to fill an Account Clerk 1111 vacancy and may be used to fill future full time
vacancies as they occur during the active status of the employment list. The active status of this employment list will be at least 6 months or unless abolished sooner. TYPICAL TASKS

Direct supervision is provided by the Accounting and Audit Supervisor, Revenue Operations Supervisor or another Finance Department manager. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Research and maintain a variety of financial data and information

Process invoices to be paid, including research, code and data entry

Reconcile monthly statements from vendors/customers: confer with vendors and customers regarding accounts, invoices and payments.

Prepare checks and related reports and registers.

Prepare 1099 statements and or other reporting documentation related to assigned function.

Prepare, input and file journal entries.

Receive and post cash receipts and customer transactions.

Balance and verify various payment and other incoming monies from the public and various City departments: prepare deposit forms as required.

Generate accounts receivable invoices.

Process applications and forms related to assigned function and provide necessary information to other departments or other agencies as needed.
