Company Name: The TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs)

Required Travel: 25-50%
Min Experience: 5-7 Years
Job Function: Development/Fundraising/Grantwriting
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 (Yearly Salary)

The TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors seeks an experienced development professional to join their team as the Major Gifts Officer.

This is a newly created role reporting to the Executive Director with the goal of building upon the success of the organization’s recent first-ever major gifts campaign which raised over $2.5M to fund groundbreaking research into promising new treatments, with the hope of one day finding a cure.

The Major Gifts Officer will have the opportunity to create and implement a plan for strengthening relationships with existing major donors and growing the organization’s community of support. This person will spend approximately 40% of their time traveling around the country to meet with donors who are making this important work possible, most frequently on the West Coast and in New England. When not traveling, the Major Gifts Officer may choose to be based out of the Santa Cruz office or may work remotely from their home city.

The TLC Foundation’s mission is to end the suffering caused by body-focused repetitive behaviors, such as skin picking and hair pulling. With an annual budget of approximately $1M, TLC is poised to grow its impact over the next several years through new outreach, treatment, and prevention strategies with the goal of more powerfully and compassionately serving people across the country who are affected by this condition.

Applications will be accepted through: May 5, 2017.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate is inspired by TLC’s mission of ending the suffering of individuals and families facing these disorders, and is committed to supporting the organization as it grows and expands its impact. TLC is a particularly ‘heart-centered’ organization, with deep compassion and kindness at its core. The Major Gifts Officer will thrive in this environment, and possess genuine caring and concern for those suffering from BFRBs.
We desire candidates who are naturally curious and energized by connecting interpersonally with a diverse range of people, and who derive satisfaction from networking and connecting people to their interests and passions. It is essential that candidates bring strong written and verbal communication skills, and be especially capable and confident in one-on-one settings, even when talking about subjects that may be quite personal and emotionally sensitive.

We seek candidates who are self-motivated, highly organized, and able to see the big picture while driving to results. The nature of this position requires candidates who not only enjoy, but thrive, working independently and remotely, while also forging collaborative relationships across the TLC team of board and staff members.

Candidates should have: a minimum of 5 years of non-profit fundraising experience, preferably with a successful track record securing major gifts. A CFRE designation is a plus. Facility with information technology, ideally Salesforce and Constant Contact, is required.
